A little about who we are...
The 200churches Podcast and website is all about ministry encouragement for pastors of small churches. We define a 200church as: a church of around 200 people, give or take a hundred or two!
Jeff and Jonny are pastors who want to encourage and support pastors of “normal” sized churches, or what N.T. Wright called "ordinary" sized churches. They know that there are tens of thousands of churches, actually hundreds of thousands, that have 200 or less in attendance. The work of these pastors and ministries can get lost in the shuffle, and they want to encourage, equip, support, inspire, and cheer them on!
Jeff and Jonny know that over 70% of churches in America have fewer than 200 members, and how ironic it is that as pastors of smaller churches, they receive most of their resources and encouragement from pastors of huge churches, and never get to hear the stories and experiences of pastors from churches like their own?
With humor, passion, conviction, and care, Jeff and Jonny share methods and inspiration for the small church pastor through their podcasts and blog posts. If you are a lay, bi-vocational, or solo pastor, the 200churches Podcast is for YOU because your leadership, no matter the size of your church, matters HUGE in the Kingdom of God!

Behind the microphones...
After serving in the same church for five years, Jeff is now the Lead Pastor of Community Heights Alliance Church in Newton, IA and Jonny is the Campus Pastor of The Bridge, a multi-site location of Meredith Drive Reformed Church in Des Moines, IA. They met in a seminary class in June 2010 and have been friends since. Jeff has been in ministry for 35 years in churches ranging from 25 to 700. Jonny has been in ministry for 10 years. Jeff grew up in New York, and until September 2017, had spent the previous twenty four years in just two churches, before transitioning to Community Heights. He has served as a solo pastor, assistant pastor, youth pastor, associate pastor, and senior pastor (every position requires some part time janitorial responsibilities!) Jeff has been married to Debbie for 36 years. They have four married children (three sons and a daughter) and eight grandchildren. Jonny grew up in Iowa, and as a pastor's kid he has been on the ministry scene his entire life. He was Jeff's associate pastor and had wide ranging responsibilities including youth, college, preaching, and of course, some janitorial responsibilities! Jonny has been Campus Pastor at The Bridge since June 2017. Jonny has been married to Kayla for 9 years and they also have four children--three sons and a daughter.
Jeff and Jonny are passionate about encouraging pastors in small and smaller churches (you define those!) and are encouraged to be connecting with many of them around the world. Their goal is to create an online network of 200church pastors who will support and encourage one another. |
