Dave Jacobs, our pastor coach friend from Rogue River, OR joins us for a very helpful and fun podcast episode on the topic of being misunderstood in ministry. If you've never been misunderstood, just wait, next week is coming!
Communication is the name of the game for small church pastors, and wherever communication abounds, misunderstandings do much more abound. Well, at least sometimes. The worst is when they come at you out of the blue - out of left field!
Dave and the guys give some great suggestions for handling those misunderstandings, and even reducing the frequency of misunderstandings in your pastoral ministry with your church family.
As we say in this episode, Dave Jacobs is a great resource for small church pastors. Why die on the vine and suffer alone? Why miss out on the encouragement and coaching that Dave can give you? Check him out on SmallChurchPastor.com or send him a personal message at Dave@smallchurchpastor.com.

In this episode, Jeff revealed that he'd never heard of Barry White before! Can you believe it?! Jeff must live under a rock! Here's the guy he never heard of - the inimitable Barry White!
This episode includes some of the evaluative questions from Dan's article called Worship: Pay Attention To The Mechanics.
Click on the link above for the entire article and all 48 questions to ask when evaluating your Sunday experience!
The definition below will make sense about five minutes into the episode...
DAN'S ARTICLE
Dan wrote an article listing almost 50 questions to ask when evaluating your Sunday experiences at your church, no matter the size. Have some fun and use those questions, especially ones less applicable, like how your parking lot attendants are doing, for your small church. Translate these into your small church context!
ADAPT THE QUESTIONS
Many of them need no translation, they are applicable to all churches. But resist the urge to say, "Hey, this doesn't apply to my church!" Think it through, and ask yourself what the relative equivalent would be in your context, then answer the question.
IT REALLY IS HARD WORK
Make no mistake - good, effective, evaluation is HARD! This is real work for real pastors and church leaders. We want to challenge you to do it, because it might make the difference in bringing someone into the life of the Gospel, into friendship with Jesus!
Again, click here to go to Dan's full article with ALL OF THE questions!
Now, if you really want to be challenged in your small church ministry, check out Dan's book, Amplified Leadership! Just click on the book image below!

You'll love this episode with Ryan!
Pastor Ryan is a husband, father of four, listener, friend, encourager, and the pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Orange City, IA. Ryan first joined us on the podcast in episode 17, The Pros and Cons of Small Church Ministry, over 100 episodes ago!
It was great to have him back, and to have him experience the opulent and luxurious 200churches Podcast Studio, which was not around when he last joined us. Ryan is a fun guy, and we enjoy great chemistry with him, which made the recording time so enjoyable!
Ryan offers solid advice and encouragement for pastors of churches under 100. He came to his current church after serving on the staff of a much larger church, and so has gone through that experience of learning how different churches can be, based on their size. Not better or worse, just different.
If you've ever cheered for a Pittsburgh team, you're already Ryan's friend. A Pittsburgh native, Ryan was a paperboy, delivering the very sports articles that exalted his beloved Pirates. Ryan understands the importance of home, family, and balancing both with his ministry priorities. We talk about those issues with him.
Jonny's New Video Posts
We hope you enjoyedJonny's Monday Morning Pastor video, sorry, there is not just an audio version of that yet. Maybe just keep your glasses off and just listen... But seriously - he is going to try a Google Hangout on Air soon! It would be great to be able to hang out with other 200churches pastors! Be looking for that opportunity soon!
With Jeff on sabbatical, will there be podcast episodes each week?
Absolutely! There will be episodes every Wednesday, right on time, (Lord willing!) as usual. We have recorded episodes through the end of August! That's because we're GOOOD!
In August we will have four "Best of" episodes. After more than 130 podcast episodes, we thought we would pick four of the best, and if you're like me, you'll learn a lot of new things the second time around.
There are so many new listeners that will be hearing those for the first time anyway. Even with those "Best of" episodes, we recorded all new intro and outro material, so they will also be like new episodes anyway. (we had a ton of fun recording those!)
Sabbatical??
As I'm on sabbatical for the summer, I might take some opportunities on Fridays to share my experiences with you... and I might not! I've never done this before, so I want to under-promise for sure.
I'm literally in my first few days off, and I haven't left town yet, so I'm not feeling very unplugged. If you want to give me any "sabbatical advice", feel free to leave some in the comments section below!
Enjoy episode 120 with Ryan Perz!
